SAP Note 90437 - Alignment for different device types

Component : SAPscript - Smart Forms

Summary :
When printing forms in SAP, discrepancies in the print layout, such as changes in tabs and additional line breaks, can occur across different printers. This issue originates from the utilization of diverse printer typefaces or device types, which support varying font metrics, affecting text alignment and spacing. While setting up forms, SAPscript relies on these printer-specific font metrics to calculate line and page breaks. To mitigate layout issues, it is recommended to align forms based on the device type with the largest character blank width and ensure consistency by using compatible fonts.
