SAP Note 867681 - ALTER DATABASE TEMPFILE DROP hangs

Component : Oracle -

Solution : https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/867681 (SAP Service marketplace login required)

Summary :
When using the ALTER DATABASE TEMPFILE DROP command or during DB recovery via BRRECOVER, the system may hang due to an SMON process holding a TT enqueue lock. This issue has been identified as ORACLE bug 3833893 affecting versions 9.2.0.1 through 9.2.0.6 and 10.1.0.2 and 10.1.0.3. The solution lies in applying Patch set 9.2.0.7, or updating to versions 10.1.0.4 or 10.2. As a temporary workaround, deleting the Tempfile in 'mount' status can be executed to avoid the system hang.
